Every year, the Bureau of Customs confiscates million-worth of smuggled goods in the country’s various ports. But where do these goods go?
According to Customs Deputy Commissioner for Intelligence Danilo Lim, all smuggled goods are automatically taken to their warehouses and stocked inside container vans until the government tells them what to do with it.
When Ted visited one of these warehouses, it was discovered that piles and blocks of smuggled items, including food items that have rotten were all waiting to be disposed.
The BOC, however, admits that the “overstaying of cargos” is a problem. How can they address this concern? And how does smuggling affect the country’s economy?
