“Protégé: The Battle For The Big Break,” a reality-based singing talent show created by GMA Network. It is hosted by Ogie Alcasid, as the journey host, Dingdong Dantes as gala presenter, and Jennylyn Mercado, the show’s reality host. Now on rumormill that it will be back on the third quarter with a new format similar to “Starstruck,” which is an over-all talent competition (singing, dancing, acting, hosting) which debuted on October 27, 2003, and has since become one of the most popular shows on Philippine television. It’s last edition was “Starstruck V” which led to the discovery of Sarah Lahbati and Steven Silva.
Still, the program seeks to discover new talented Filipinos in the country through a series of nationwide auditions. The Filipino public votes for the outcomes of the later stages through text voting and half of the results are from the judges (more popularly known as council). The judges give critiques of the contestants performances depending on the challenges that are being given to the contestants.
