After sold-out houses during the first season in Manila last August, “Potted Potter” takes on the ultimate challenge of condensing all seven Harry Potter books (and a real life game of Quidditch) into seventy hilarious minutes. This fantastically funny show features all your favourite characters, a special appearance from a fire-breathing dragon, endless costumes, brilliant songs, ridiculous props and a generous helping of Hogwarts magic!
“So long as you don’t live in a cave and have at least heard about Harry Potter and his Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, you’ll find yourself under
the show’s funny spell.”
The production has spread its charm and easily gained popularity from Filipino potterheads and non-potter fans when it visited Manila for their first stop of the world tour. An astounding almost 22,000 fans are currently subscribed to the Potted Potter Manila Facebook page which still continues to grow. Producer James Cundall, Chief Executive of Lunchbox Theatrical Productions said, “With an utterly great reception of the audiences, we did not have second thoughts on bringing back the show in Manila.”
The big come-back of the comic duo, Jesse Briton and Gary Trainor, will cap off their worldwide tour here in Manila. The 2012-2013 tour includes in Singapore, Hong Kong, Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, currently in Brisbane then show goes to Adelaide, Australia, then to Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa.
Totally unauthorized, outrageously funny, and altogether memorable, “Potted Potter” has the audience laughing long after the curtains fall.
This 2012 Olivier Award nominee for best entertainment and family show is a must-see for Potter addicts and a great introduction to the series for anyone who’s ever wondered what all the fuss is about. Even if you don’t know the difference between a Horcrux and a Hufflepuff, POTTED POTTER will make you roar with laughter. This brilliant family entertainment is perfect for ages six to Dumbledore (who is very old indeed).
All three Potted shows (Potted Panto, Potted Potter and Potted Pirates) have earned widespread acclaim and a fan base that crosses generations. POTTED POTTER played five sold-out Fringe seasons in Edinburgh, five sold-out London runs and extensive UK and international tours. The show has received rave reviews from all the leading UK papers – The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, The Times, Sunday Express, Daily Mail, London Evening Standard and The Financial Times, as well as being a Time Out Critic’s Choice.
Double Olivier Award Best Entertainment nominees Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner first created
“Potted Potter” in 2005 for an appearance at a London bookshop, as a five-minute entertainment for fans awaiting the release of the sixth book in the series. The show grew from there into a full-length stage production, first seen at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2006, and has since toured internationally, including sell-out seasons at the Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne Comedy Festival and New Zealand Comedy Festival in 2009.
“Potted Potter” in Manila is produced by Lunchbox Theatrical Productions, Potted Productions, Concertus Manila and Hi Definition Radio.
