At the age of 50, the first GMA Network’s Vice President for News Programs Jessica Soho retired from her office after serving 30 long years of loyal, dedicated and outstanding service as an employee.
Jessica is the first Filipino reporter to win the George Foster Peabody Award on 1999. She is also the first Filipino to win in the New York Film Festival for Coverage of a Breaking Story for her account of a hostage crisis in Cagayan Valley. She also received the Ka Doroy Valencia Award given by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas. In 1994, she received the Grand Prize from the Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union for her riveting coverage of a breaking news story. Soho is included in the list of 100 Filipino Women of Distinction.
She’s too young to retire, but I hope, everything will stay the same. She will retire as a GMA executive but will remain as a GMA talent. So we will still see her in KMJS, Brigada and State of the nation.
