For the past six months, there were local grossers generated millions of earnings just on its opening day! Moreover, romantic comedy films dominated the theatres in the first half of 2015.
Reports showed that top-selling movies on the list were released/distributed by the production film outfit Star Cinema. Here is the list of the top grossing films that dominated the first half of the year.
1.) Crazy Beautiful You
TOTAL DOMESTIC EARNING: P420 million
Love tandem Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla as leads for this movie earned around P420 million, according to pulse.ph report.

It has earned 32 million on its opening day. Hence, it’s the highest grossing film for KathNiel loveteam.
Last year’s She’s Dating The Gangster breached more than P260 million in local box office.
Their 2013’s MMFF movie entry Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay grossed more than P182 million as announced by Star Cinema.
The film became a hit locally and internationally, with its foreign box office receipts reaching $2 million mark.
The film was directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar (She’s the One, Bride for Rent). It focuses on rebellious daughter Jacqueline Serrano,(portrayed by Kathryn) who gets sent in a medical mission to Mt.Pinatubo by her mother Leah (Lorna) in hopes she’d turn for the better.
There she met a jolly man named Kiko (Daniel), who will look after her work. In the middle of his mission, a new crazy beautiful Jacqueline will emerge, someone who knows how to forgive and give love to people who are important to her.
2.) You’re My Boss
TOTAL DOMESTIC EARNING: P210 MILLION
Despite its competition from Fast and Furious 7, the romantic comedy flick of the pair Toni Gonzaga and Coco Martin has reportedly breached P210 million in the local box-office, according to Star Cinema.

The film had an opening day gross of P25 million. 6 days after the released of the movie, it has earned P100 million.
The film is directed by Antoinette Jadaone (That Thing Called Tadhana). It centers on a smart bossy airline company executive named Georgina, who will do any attempts to close a deal with investors that includes her assistant (Coco) pretending as the big boss to win the deal since the real boss is on leave. During their pretense, both characters will get to know what’s real and beautiful about each other.
3.) That Thing Called Tadhana
TOTAL DOMESTIC EARNING: P134 MILLION
The hugot film of the year has earned P134 million in domestic box offfice.
Cinema One Originals’ Tadhana will be shown at the 19th Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea this coming July 16-26.

Just last month, the film had its international screening in San Francisco on June 14 and 20 held at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and Mission Street.
Aside from being a blockbuster hit in local and in abroad, the movie has also received numerous awards including Audience Choice and Best Actress award for Angelica Panganiban at the 2014 Cinema One Originals Film Festival while JM de Guzman received Best Actor award at the Gawad Pasado.
The top grossing local indie film of all time, directed by Antoinette Jadaone, centers on two strangers who meet at the airport and agree to go on a road trip together in Luzon to help mending their broken hearts.
4.) Just The Way You Are
TOTAL DOMESTIC EARNING:P100 MILLION
The first ever movie team up of Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano has earned almost P100 million, according Star Cinema.
It earned P12 million on opening day, such a good start in making more line-up films for the year’s breakout love team.
The top grossing film is a follow up to ABS-CBN’s hit series Forevermore.
The film, directed by Theodore Boborol, centers on school hearthrob Drake (Enrique), who tries to make nerdy Sophia (Liza) to fall in love with him to win a bet.
The year is officially half over but there’s more to watch until the end of the last quarter.
Note: Other Filipino movies that were released this year, those were not included in the above list, have not yet released its total gross earning.
