With the recent fiery network wars, GMA 7 admitted that the longest running noontime TV show “Eat Bulaga” surpassed all Kapuso TV programs across all levels.
The current success of GMA 7 high ratings is attributed to the viral ALDUB kalye serye series’ featuring Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub from the ‘Juan for All, All for One’ segment of “Eat Bulaga.”
GMA Network TV was quick to claim that they got the top spot in terms of television ratings from areas in urban Luzon including Mega Manila last August. The data came from Nielsen TV Audience Measurement.
For several years GMA 7 was struggling to increase their ratings but with the epic popularity of “Eat Bulaga’s” Aldub, the Kapuso network was able to harvest good TV ratings.
During the 2nd quarter of this year, GMA 7 TV Network has laid off employees from regional stations mostly from the public affairs department. Some of these stations were already closed.
Last April 2015 GMA issued a statement justifying the layoffs which included regular employees. “GMA Network is in the process of undertaking a strategic streamlining of programs and manpower in its provincial stations to ensure business competitiveness.”
According to the survey on Mega Manila households which was conducted by AGB Nielsen suggested that GMA 7 has a remarkable increased in audience share particularly for the period of September 21 to 22.
GMA 7 noontime show “Eat Bulaga” got an impressive 30% high ratings particularly on the September 21 episode which reached a remarkable 33.6%.
However on the other side of the spectrum, ABS-CBN noontime show “It’s Showtime” had an increased viewership from previous single digit ratings to double digits of 11% – thanks to Pastillas Girl.
But with the increasing number of Aldub fanatics TV ratings for “It’s Showtime” dwindled down to less than 10%.
Amazingly, GMA 7 is now reaping the rewards from the popularity of ALDUB with “Eat Bulaga” gaining times 3 rating of the rival noontime Kapamilya show.
