Two days ago, Sarangani Rep. and senatorial candidate Manny Pacquiao compared the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community to animals in an interview with the TV-5 group for its “Bilang Pilipino” elections coverage, promptly getting himself flak on social media at the start of the 2016 elections campaign.
A day after, Manny issued a public apology via Facebook video uploaded on his 10M likes Facebook page. While some did not accept the apology, others supported the People’s Champ, saying she did not need to say sorry for speaking the “truth.”
Also posted that day on his verified Facebook page was, “I rather obey the Lord’s command than obeying the desires of the flesh. Im not condemning anyone, but I’m just telling the truth of what the Bible says. The truth from the Bible is what changed me from my old ways. 1 Corinthians 6:9
“[9] Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men.”
God Bless everyone i love you all. @johnnybantilan @david.sisson @jinkeepacquiao”
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. We’re all Filipinos, we’re all humans but we have all different beliefs. If you want us to respect yours, learn first how to respect other people’s preferences and how they want to live their lives.
Some may agree on Manny’s point about following God’s commands and what’s written in the Bible. However, you cannot run to the Senatorial position if you will always rely on what the Bible says.
Government has its own laws separated from church. Laws which have to be implemented accordingly. They have different platforms and they should handle the full responsibility for standing to each side. On the contrary, If there’s a voting session for you to be a pastor, priest or whatever, i’ll vote for you because you’ve shown how great you are as a son of God. But not in politics because it’s a different thing.
