Julie Anne San Jose considers education very important and that she continued studying while she pursued her career in singing.
In a grand press conference for her upcoming “IN CONTROL” concert, Julie Anne revealed that it was her lifelong dream to become a singer. She had a penchant for singing ever since she was two and a half years old and that didn’t abate as she got older.
When she started her singing career 10 years ago, she said it was a turning point in her life because she had to choose between studies and singing. She said,
“I chose na pagsabayin ko yung dalawa. Kasi gusto ko ring kumanta pero gusto ko ding mag-aral. Nagkaron po kami ng deal ni papa, na kailangang mag honors, kailangang ding mataas ang grades.” (I chose to do them at the same time. Because I want to sing and I want to study too. My father and I had a deal, to maintain being an honor, to have high grades. )
Julie Anne said that so far, she has kept her part of the bargain.
She reiterated the importance of education, time and again. during the presscon.
“For me kasi, education is really important…Ang showbusiness kasi hindi mo naman po masabi kung hanggang kelan nandyan. Kung baga, at least kapag wala na ko sa showbiz, at least may fallback.” (For me, education is really important. You cannot say up to when you will be in showbusiness. At least, when I’m not in showbiz anymore, I have a fallback.)
Julie Anne said that she will be graduating this May, though she’s mum on whether or not she’s running for Cum Laude.
In her 10 years in showbiz, Julie Anne has achieved several milestones in her career. With a diamond album (equivalent to 10x platinum), a triple platinum for her latest album, tv hosting and guestings, as well as several awards, there seems to be no end yet as to what she can achieve in the years to come.
Yet you cannot please them all. Julie Anne also receives her share of bashing. She does not mind them anymore as she used to. She knows it comes with the territory.
Like the title of her concert, Julie Anne is very much in control of where she wants to be and what she wants to achieve. She remains focused on her music and in her goal to make a lot of people happy.
Julie Anne will be holding her “IN CONTROL” concert on May 14, 2016 at the Kia Theatre. For those who are interested, tickets are now on sale at Ticketnet online.
