After being chosen as the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF 2016) ambassadress, Blogger Mocha Uson, a known supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, has been appointed as board member of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB).
Uson’s appointment has been signed by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea. The appointment paper is dated January 3, 2017. MTRCB regulates and classifies motion pictures, television programs, and publicity materials.
At the sidelines of a press briefing in Malacañang, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar was asked why Uson was picked as MTRCB board member.
He replied, “Why not? What makes her not qualified?”
“Mocha is an artist. She is one of the biggest artists that we have in the country. She’s been in the show business for more than a decade,” Andanar added.
Meanwhile, MTRCB chair Toto Villareal said they already received Uson’s appointment.
“The MTRCB received recently a copy of Ms Uson’s appointment letter signed by the President; but she has yet to assume office in the agency,” Villareal said.
