“Respeto” is one of the nine official film entries competing for this year’s Cinemalaya Film Festival. The film is directed by Alberto Monteras II and stars popular FlipTop rappers Abra, Loonie, Sinio.
The movie follows the story of an amateur rapper with a bleak future. Things changed when he met a martial law poet who was stuck in the past.
Also in the film are some of the notable rappers in the country and indie artists Kate Alejandro, Chai Fonacier, Ybes Bagadiong, Thea Yrastorza, and more.
Even some of the critics we know, gave a whopping positive feedback to “Respeto.” For them, the film should win the “Best Picture,” “Best Supporting Actor,” and “Best Actor” awards.
The cinematography and acting were all remarkable, according to the publication.
According to reviews, Abra’s performance was notable and worthy of praises, even comparing it to Eminem’s in the movie “8 Mile.”
Cinemalaya’s awards night will take place at the Cultural Center of the Philippines this coming Sunday, August 13.
