- “It’s Showtime” host Nadine Lustre imparted a message to people going through depression
- Nadine Lustre said she gets her strength from people who look up to her
Being a sufferer of depression and anxiety in the past, 24-year-old actress/performer Nadine Lustre shared a few thoughts and advice for her fans and other people suffering from it. “Rollercoaster” is what Nadine could describe her 2017, due to various high and low situations, including her brother’s recent and untimely death.
A stronger and more determined Nadine faced us last night at the press conference of her upcoming concert with boyfriend James Reid.
“JaDine Revolution” will take place at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on February 9, as a celebration of their 2nd anniversary as a celebrity couple and in sync with Valentines Day.
Early on October 2017, Nadine’s 16-year-old brother, Isaiah, committed suicide in their house. This incident devastated their family and since then, the actress started consoling other people and fans who come to her to seek comfort amidst her depression.
Nadine even made the hashtag #KeepGoing trending on social media that time. Many netizens admired her for this stunt and for responding to people’s stories.
According to Nadine, she took her strength from those people who looked up to her. She saw how her little gestures made an impact on them and this really made her happy and comforted.
“Para sakin, nakaka-taba po siya ng puso to know that these people (na) parehas sila ng situation, napapa-saya ko,” Nadine shared. “I think ‘yung yung reason kung bakit pinilit ko ‘yung sarili ko to put myself together and to stay strong and be there for everyone.”
Advice on how to cope with depression
Nadine then calls out the attention of every one who knows for themselves that they need help and they should seek help. For her, the most effective way of coping is to vent out what one truly feels inside.
“Kailangan lang i-share mo talaga siya sa taong pinagkaka-tiwalaan mo, ilabas mo ng ilabas ‘yung nararamdaman mo,” she said. “For all the people na may kilalang nagsa-suffer, makinig lang po kayo. Hindi niyo alam kung gaano ka-laking tulong ang nagagawa niyo just by listening.”
James added “You should really make an effort. It’s obviously very hard for them.”
