During our sit down interview, Shaina Magdayao admitted her preparations on her role in Asintado. She also reported that she couldn’t decline the project because of its powerhouse cast. Shaina also stated that Asintado could last for a long time because of the rich storyline. She will star in an upcoming drama-revenge series Asintado which will air on January 15, Monday in ABS-CBN Gold.

Shaina shares her preparation as Samantha Del Mundo while still doing The Better Half. She also disclosed how she couldn’t decline nor reject the project offered to her.
“Actually, hindi ako masyadong nakapaghanda. Because when this was pitched to me, The Better Half ‘yung ginagawa ko. So medyo na-rattle ako na ‘Ah okay, so I’m doing another one.’ And this is a project I cannot say no to with the cast palang na nakakatrabaho ko. Sobrang ganda rin ng cast, it’s such an honor na makatrabaho silang lahat. Kasi laging kong mga nakakaeksena sila Tita LT (Lorna Tolentino), Ate Pie (Cherry Pie Picache), Ate Agot (Isidro), Tito Nonie (Buencamino) and si Pau (Paulo Avelino). Kaming lima lagi.”
Shaina stated how it is an honor to work with a powerhouse cast.
“So sabi ko, parang pwede na ako maging viewer, manunuod nalang ako sa kanila. Ang ganda ganda nilang tingnan kapag umaarte na sila, whenever they’re in one frame. Sobrang nakakatuwang mapanuod ‘tong mga ‘to. Parang okay na lang ako na manuod. Hindi nalang umarte. It’s an honor na makatrabaho sila.”
She also described the storyline of Asintado. She shared how it could be extended for a long time because of the thickness and richness of the story.
“And the story line is not just action, action. Hindi lang siya yung like, love story. Lahat, marami siyang aspeto. When they were pitching it to me, sabi ko, napakakapal ng story line pwede mo siya actually i-extend ng like, two years. Kasi sobrang rich ng story line. And, it took me more than a month para magamay yung role ko dahil ‘di nga ako sanay.”
Shaina’s past roles who were kind and gentle was still showing through. She stated that she needed to strip it all off when playing Samantha in Asintado.
“We actually had to re-shoot some scenes kasi sinasabi ng management, ‘Masyado pang mabait! Masyado pang mabait si Shaina! Kailangan niyong i-re-shoot.’ Kasi nakikita pa rin nila si Teacher Camille. It took me a good month para pumasok sa akin si Samantha Del Mundo. Thanks to the help of my director, si Direk Onat, si Direk Lino. Sobra nila akong inalalayan. So ‘yun yung character, we want to show something different and hopefully na-achieve namin at ma-appreciate ng mga manunuod.”
Also part of Asintado‘s powerhouse cast: Lorna Tolentino, Cherry Pie Picache, Lito Pimentel, Agot Isidro, Nonie Buencamino, Gloria Sevilla, Aaron Villaflor, Louise Delos Reyes, Julio Diaz, Empress Schuck, Chokoleit, Ryle Santiago and Karen Reyes. Under the direction of Onat Diaz and also, Lino Cayetano.
Armed with love and revenge, Asintado will air on January 15, Monday on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD.
