- “The Cure” introduces Tasha the Gorilla as one of their casts
- Tasha’s makeover and prosthetics was described by GMA as “madugo”
- The said series will air on television starting April 30, 2018
GMA Network formally introduced their latest series, “The Cure,” casts during the press conference last April 17. Along with Jennylyn Mercado and Tom Rodriguez is “Tasha” the Gorilla.
Tasha plays a big role in “The Cure” series. The gorilla is the test subject in making the cure for cancer. So, there’s a good reason for GMA Network to invest in “Tasha” since she must not look bad to the audience as she will be appearing in the first episodes.
GMA Network said that they spent a huge amount of money for Tasha.
Winnie Hollies Reyes, the Executive Producer of “The Cure,” described Tasha’s makeover as “madugo.” Although, she did not disclose the whole amount.
Winnie also revealed that Imaw, a character in “Encantadia,” and Tasha were created in the same post-production and prosthetics house. Imaw was also the first fully-animatronic head in the Philippines.
Tasha only appeared a few minutes in the press conference. This is considering the person inside the costume. Although the mouth acts as the person’s peeking hole, he still can’t see where he’s headed.
“The Cure” series has received several criticisms when the debut trailer was released. Some people say it’s just a “The Walking Dead” copycat and the Korean film “Train to Busan.” Now, that they’ve added Tasha in the picture, people can now compare it to more zombie movies who got the virus from animals – specifically apes.
There have been many zombie movies where monkeys were used as carrier agents such as Matt Damon’s “Contagion,” and Bruce Willis’ “Twelve Monkeys.”
“The Cure” will air in GMA Network primetime series starting April 30, 2018, following the conclusion of “Sherlock Jr.” on April 27.
