MANILA, Philippines – Suspected members of the New People’s Army (NPA) set fire to a cellsite of Globe Telecom in Mindoro Occidental province early Tuesday, police said.
Some 10 armed men burned the cellsite in Mt. Binarara, Sitio Maslud, Brgy Tubili, Paluan town, around 7:40 a.m., according to Mindoro Occidental Provincial Police Office director Senior Supt.

Baysa said a security guard and a barangay official reported the incident to the Paluan Police.
Police have yet to determine the extent of damage to the cellsite.
The NPA has frequently targeted cellsites of Globe Telecom due to the company’s alleged refusal to pay the NPA’s “revolutionary tax.”
