Upon seeing this video above, I read the caption posted at STOP making nurses work Without Salaries: “This is the Eat Bulaga DANCE NUMBER of Pauleen Luna, LJ Reyes, and Ryza Cenon, with backup dancers, all wearing NURSES’ UNIFORM with CAP. The three lead dancers are all dancing sexually and keep humping the air, they have skirts that are way above the knees, and at one point you can see under Ryza Cenon’s skirt when she spins. Their caps also fall to the ground or are thrown away. This is a clear DISRESPECT and SEXUALIZATION of the image of nurses everywhere, which perpetuates the negative STEREOTYPES of nurses in the media. We urge the Philippine Nurses’ Philippine Nurse Association, Inc. to take action and force Eat Bulaga to issue a PUBLIC APOLOGY to all the hardworking nurses in the Philippines! JUSTICE FOR FILIPINO NURSES! The uniform a nurse wears is a powerful symbol of professionalism” (Richardson, 1999; Spragley & Francis, 2006)”
Here are some of the comments from this video uploaded on the page:
Victor Tagura Personal opinion lang:” its just an imagery of nurses being sexy. Like politics being magnanakaw” wag nating pagduldulan sa media at entertainment yang issue.
Quinto Windar Think not just twice b4 saying and doing anything..realidad at hnd imagination ang corrupt na bansa natin kya u mean it.opinion is just opinion but respect begins with respect, profession ang pinag uusapan at hnd problema ng bayan.nakakababa na nga na wlang work sa pinas mas lalong nakakababa pag ganyan makita mo e -portrait sa nurses..maging maka tao lng po tau.
Mery Cuneta hndi naman dpat palakihin tong issue na to.. people, there are alot of college students na sobrang ikli mg nursing uniform.. bsn students na nag yoyosi wearing their uniforms. nag iinum etc…
if we nurses dont want a bad image we should educated everyone starting with those students. primary nursing care.. and i dont see any offense with this video. i could say energetic nga ng dance number e.
Amy Roc Naku Merry walang nursing school na nag pe-prescribe ng short uniforms, if you saw one that does not represent the whole gamut of nursing professional decorum. With this type of nurse portrayal on TV , the whole world is looking. We are trying our best to re-create the image of the Filipino nurse and been breaking heads with curriculum towards that direction. So, if foreign stakeholders would want sexy nurses, they will prefer to hire Filipino nurses and then what’s next? Abuse, yes? We are not moving towards moral re-generation but backwards in this manner. We want to be known as competent nurses, who are the choice of the world, not sex objects.
Franz Dinar Velasco Osida ” We want to be known as competent nurses, who are the choice of the world, not sex objects.”
Well are we sex objects nga ba? I am confused kasi well where does this come from? Are we not being chosen abroad? Are we not being appreciated? Parang I feel na this incident nga ba should affect our job?
Jessee James Embalzado RN Take heed PNA…if we’re not going to do it…the public and the young will have a tarnished image of nurses now and in the future; and this kind of disrespect to our profession will continue.
Carlo Martin Posadas para fair..why dont they also used other professional uniforms like police or teacher for the sake of entertainment..or worse why not use priest or nuns attire. lets see if how everyone reacts. dont singled us out nurses. we do appreciate entertainment but there are so many ways and means to do it in a way n u dont disrespect or step in other professions.
Stephen Sarona Our profession are meant to save lives and promote wellness however Eat bulaga seems to see nurses as a symbol for lewdness tsk tsk
Marjorie Cruz Makitid po ang utak ng mga nurses, or sadyang makitid lang ang alam nyo about nurses? I’ve never seen anyone kahit student nurses na maiksi ang uniforms, bka ibng course? Dahil sa university where I studied, kahit student ka palang big deal sa institute, professors, administrators on how we use our Nursing uniform. Lalo na siguro ngayon na Licensed kana, coz our alma mater thought us how to respect our profession, baka yan ang nakalimutan ituro sa inyo?
Salamat
Marylou Cabildo-reid I like the comment about this. We should all respect each other. No matter what we are or who we are or what we do. As long we maintain our dignity as a filipino. Theres a lot of issue about filipino abroad. And my main concern is ofw in general. Bakit di natin batikusin itong walang modong ofw that commit adultery and bigamy. That mostly men and women going abroad they get into relationship with someone else despite they are married and have family back home. This problem need to be arise and resolve. The dignity of other filipino and the children’s welfare we need to think.
