After weeks of tough ‘battle rounds’ and ‘live shows,’ Team Sarah’s Jason James Dy is finally hailed as the grand champion of “The Voice of the Philippines Season 2” during the reality talent show’s finale at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila on Sunday, March 1. Jason beat top 2 finalist Alisah Bonaobra from Team Apple during the grand finals on Sunday, September 29, at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City.
After singing Regine Velasquez’s “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin” during the final showdown, Jason got 52.94% of the public votes while Alisah who performed Celine Dion’s “All By Myself” got 47.06%. The poll, which was solely based on public voting, was reset to zero before the top two contenders had their final sing-off. Team Leah’s Leah Patricio and Team Bamboo’s Rence Rapanot were named as the third and fourth placer, respectively.
Jason took home the grand prize of P2 million, a trophy designed and crafted by contemporary artist Leeroy New, a house and lot worth P2 million, a music instrument package worth P100,000, shopping spree and Asian tour package worth P350,000, a business package worth P1 million, a new car worth P1 million, a recording and management contract with MCA Music.
