During the early part of this year, it has been reported that the noontime show, “Eat Bulaga!” experienced a decline in TV ratings. It was based on the data from AGB Nielsen (Mega Manila Ratings).
However during the launch of #TwitterCityPH held in Taguig City’s Mind Museum, Twitter vice president for Media, Asia Pacific and Middle East, Rishi Jaitly, said that they were seeing a million tweets everyday.
A million Twitter posts everyday about AlDen Richards and Maine ‘YayaDub’ Mendoza or well known as ‘AlDub’ . ”
There has been no such slowdown” as reported by Philippine Entertainment Portal, PEP.ph, on February 18, 2016 during an exclusive interview of the Twitter executive. Mr. Jaitly further emphasized, “We’re seeing a million tweets every day.”
The Twitter vice president also added that the show ‘s ebbs and flows when the show invests in a big moment.
The tweet volume about ‘AlDub’ is correlated with how the producers of the show invest on Twitter, and according to Mr. Jaitly, there is no slowdown at all.

He pointed out that there is no such thing as slowdown especially the Valentine’s Day integration or call to action that resulted in 4.1 Million tweets, and he was referring to the first official Twitter auto-reply integration with a TV show in the Philippines.
Twitter users who tweeted last February 12 to 14 at Eat Bulaga! / @Eat Bulaga using #ALDUBisLove, #ALDUBValentinesDate and #ALDUBHappyValentines hashtags where the fans and users received a special Valentine’s message with pictures and signatures of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza.
It was the big Valentine’s Day integration event. It was also corresponding to the first Valentine’s Day date of the ‘AlDub’ couple in Tagaytay last February 13.
During Rishi Jaitly’s speech, he emphasized the importance of the ‘AlDub’ phenomenon.
He said that the story of AlDub is the story of Twitter Philippines, and they are happy to be part of and as partners with them even more.
As part of their partnership with Eat Bulaga!, they co-created their ideas, where member of Rishi’s team here who spent time and observed the show, were really impressed and proud of how well it worked.
Rishi added that the thing about these numbers of tweets is you get used to them here in the Philippines where they did not experience it in any other country.
He said that it was an extraordinary numbers of conversations about culture and about one piece of content.
Even the executives abroad according to Rishi , also wants to follow the footsteps of Filipinos to gain and reach the same high numbers of engagement.
Rishi Jaily tells the crowd during the event that when he was in Dubai, he told them about the story of Twitter in the Philippines , and the people said that they need to do that.
Will there be more future projects like that? “Yes , That’s the magic of Twitter” he proudly said. “Good ideas can come from anywhere. It can come from a user, a producer or from a talent or it can come from an employee”.
He added that if we have ideas about ways in which show or any other show here in the Philippines that can use Twitter in a creative way, that we are a canvas and a great mobile invention in communication.
They are also looking forward to another additional example of the AlDub phenomenon. A phenomenon that inspired many, and our nations pride that became a worldwide media and entertainment inspiration.
