Actress KC Concepcion is known to be close to his step father, senatorial candidate Kiko Pangilinan. But when the latter’s campaign ad came out on TV featuring his family, many have wondered why KC wasn’t part of it.
Is there an ongoing rift between KC and his stepdad?
To clear the air, KC shares the real reason why she wasn’t part of that campaign ad. In an interview with PEP, KC said she and her family agreed on the matter and that she cannot publicly campaign for Kiko because of her work as a UN Ambassador.
KC has been with the UN World Food Program for 8 years now. Since 2008, KC has helped UN WFP with their fundraising projects in the Philippines and throughout the world. She has also visited operations in Nepal after the deadly earthquake, helped in fundraising operations for the victims of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) and also participated in the UN General Assembly where she promoted #ZeroHunger.
Back to the interview, KC said as a UN Ambassador for the World Food Program, she should be apolitical or neutral when it comes to politics. She added she cannot publicly campaign for any candidate even for her stepdad to remain true to UN’s virtue of fairness. But she gave assurance that she will definitely vote for Kiko because she loves him so much like his own father.
“Actually my family discussed this, am with the United Nations [kasi] so we’re supposed to be neutral [pagdating sa] politics just to be fair.” said KC
She also added “I love him and I will vote for him, pero for the campaign just to be fair, my work for UN is special for me and I’m glad my family supports me at the same time”.
