Just because of a simple issue about a paper bag, a netizen with Facebook name Momregg Tapiru Lingad took to Facebook her sentiments over an SM cashier named Elaine Somera who allegedly lied to her when she asked for a paper bag when she bought pants for her son. The netizen called the incident a discrimination but the way she describe the lady as “HINDI KAGANDAHAN” and the SM paper wrap as “PARANG SUPOT NG TINAPA ANG PINANGBALOT,” is also a discrimination on the part of the lady and the SM.
According to a former SM bagger, SM Supermalls has a SOP on using paper wrap and bags regardless if it’s a credit or debit transaction, “Paper bags have nothing to do with debit or credit cards or cash. It’s about the quantity of your purchase.”
After shaming the lady cashier, the netizen even asked the SM Management to force the lady cashier to resign.
She may have the point at least a little but Social Media shaming is still not the best option to say all these things. There’s always a better way to ask for something than scolding or shaming someone, even if you’re a customer.
