Julie Anne San Jose won the Silver Global Sound or second place at the 2017 International Song Contest: The Global Sound for her self-composed song “Tidal Wave”.
The Kapuso singer competed with other international singers such as Lukas Graham, South Korean duo Daivichi and Singapore’s JJ Lin.
“Actually nung nakita ko po yun, kasi tini-tweet din po ako ng mga ibang mga fans, yung mga ibang supporters po, hindi ko po alam nung una kung ano ‘yun and then parang sinabi nila na iyon nga po na International Global Sound,” she explained.
Julie Anne also added, “And then ‘yung song ko po daw yung parang nagre-represent sa Philippines.
“So I just feel really blessed na nabigyan po ng recognition yung song ko, tsaka it’s also nice na may na-contribute na naman po ang mga Filipino sa music.
“Kaya sobrang thankful po ako.”
It could be recalled that Kapamilya singer Sarah Geronimo also won in the said competition in 2015 with her song “Kilometro”.
Julie Anne said, “Nakaka-proud nga kasi I think siya yung first ever na Pilipino na nanalo.
“Kaya it’s good po na may contribution na naman ang Philippines pagdating sa music industry.”
Entertainment site PEP.ph cited that she’s the ‘Sarah Geronimo of GMA-7.’ She responded, “Naku! Si Miss Sarah ay si Miss Sarah.”
Meanwhile, Julie stressed that she’s going to miss her co-stars in “Pinulot Ka Lang Sa Lupa”. Their last taping held on April 6 in Quizon City.
