Broadway artist Lea Salonga advised her Twitter followers on how to counter cyberbullies in a thread, her solution? Instant block them.
Salonga introduced her Twitter forum by asking her followers on how as a collective can stop and prevent cyberbullying.
The singer eventually answered her question by making a proposal to “communicate decently.”
“Once the bullying or otherwise targeted uncouth speech begins, block asap,” she said.
The Voice coach elaborated her thread further by asking her followers a critical question such as to why face-to-face human interaction changes once the same people go online.
To which the netizens joined the thread by explaining the concept of creating dummy accounts or posting anonymously to ruthlessly flame other people online, especially celebrities.
Moreover, the singer responded that celebrities are “targets” for trolls and she can’t blame them for leaving social media.
One example is Maine Mendoza’s Twitter deactivation earlier this month because of the “toxicity,” as written on her blog.
The thread ended with Lea Salonga’s discovery of Twitter’s automatic mute option to combat hate messages from users without profile pictures.
“Yaaaaas!!! Goodbye, eggheads!!!,” according to Miss Saigon.
