Veteran journalist Tony Calvento wants personal apology from Vice Ganda

  • “It’s Showtime” host Vice Ganda apologized for his recent joke  that insulted veteran journalist Tony Calvento
  • Vice used Tony’s name in a sarcastic advice to a contestant in “Tawag ng Tanghalan”

Veteran journalist Tony Calvento was furious when he heard his name was used in vain during the Friday episode of ABS-CBN’s noontime show “It’s Showtime.”

One of the hosts, Vice Ganda, pulled a joke when he tried to give advice to a chubby contestant in the new season of ‘Tawag Ng Tanghalan.’

Vice consoled the performer by making him feel better about his appearance. However, he name dropped the famous journalist in an unpleasant way.

“Never be ashamed of your face. ‘Yang mukha mo, ikaw ‘yan at maraming pagdadalhan ‘yang mukha na ‘yan.

“That is a gift. Your face, kahit gaano kalaki ‘yan, kahit kamukha mo si Tony Calvento, mukha mo ‘yan. Kaya dapat proud ka. ‘Wag mong ikakahiya yang mukha mo, kase nag iisa lang yan.”

Tony was offended by the remark and in his aggression, threatened the show and the host that he will file a case against them. He suggested that Vice make a public apology or he’ll push through with the case.

Due to the absence of Vice in the noontime show last Saturday, his fellow host and friend Billy Crawford read his message for the journalist.

Again, my sincerest apologies, Mr. Tony Calvento. Malaki po ang respeto ko sa inyo bilang isang journalist, kaibigan at kapamilya.”

However, the apology did not end there as Tony demanded a personal apology, one that Vice should say himself and not through a co-host.

In his Facebook profile, Calvento posted status updates and gave Vice an ultimatum for the personal apology he demanded.
