Stories about people getting hurt or killed in gun-related violence has been in the news lately — from the worst mass shooting in the history of United States of America in Las Vegas to murders of Filipinos by “riding in tandem” killers. This Wednesday (October 11), “Red Alert” anchor Jeff Canoy will focus on emergencies involving use of weapons to empower Filipinos to avoid, handle, and help if they were in this situation. Jeff gets to speak with a witness of a shooting that killed a 34-year-old tricycle driver and will then provide tips and demonstration on what to do when someone is hurt by a gunshot.
A veteran reporter that has covered countless disasters and armed conflicts, Jeff has had many “red alert” moments. While covering the Marawi siege, they were almost hit by enemy fire while inside a building. Jeff said the training provided by ABS-CBN has been very helpful for him during these instances and this is the reason why he believes in what his new show stands for very much. “We always hope for the best. But it’s also important that we prepare for the worst,” he said.
Be “Red Alert” on the dangers of guns with the “Most Trusted Field Reporter” at the Eastern Visayas State University-Ormoc’s 3rd Students’ Choice Mass Media Awards this Thursday (October 11), 9:30 pm on DZMM TeleRadyo and after “Bandila” on ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN HD.
