The poignant story between a young boy in need of a father’s affection and his estranged dad with a troubled past takes the spotlight as “Northern Lights: A Journey to Love,” starring Piolo Pascual, Yen Santos and Raikko Mateo, premieres on Cinema One this Sunday (Oct. 8).

Featuring beautiful sceneries from New Zealand, the Land of the Long White Cloud, and also shots from Alaska, this 2017 drama film on love, forgiveness and acceptance was graded B by the Cinema Evaluation Board.

It centers on carefree Charlie (Piolo), a Filipino immigrant in Alaska who suddenly has to take care of his son, Charlie Jr. (Raikko) whom he left behind in the Philippines in the care of his mother.

Amidst the struggles between the father and his son in The Last Frontier, the older Charlie unconsciously opens himself to a blossoming friendship with Angel (Yen) who went to Alaska to find her long lost mother.

Will Charlie get pass his previous heartbreak that brought him so much pain? Will the child ever win the fatherly love that he longed for?

The film, directed by Dondon Santos and produced by Star Cinema, Regal Entertainment and Spring Films, also stars Maricar Reyes-Poon, Joel Torre, Jerald Napoles, Sandy Andolong, and Tirso Cruz III.
