The 45-year old comedienne said she blamed herself for a time after she knew Quentin was a special child.
On the latest interview of comedienne Candy Pangilinan on “Tonight With Boy Abunda,” she shared part of her journey to raise Quentin, her son with special needs. The 45-year old comedienne said she blamed herself for a time after she knew Quentin was a special child.
“I had to go back and check ano ba ang ginawa ko nung buntis ako,” she said.
“From my point of view, feeling ko meron pero sabi ng doctor ko it’s not yet proven,” she answered when asked if pregnancy really affects how a child will turn out.
“Because I was very stressed when I was pregnant. I was emotionally stressed and physically stressed. Feeling ko nag-a-affect yun, feeling ko nagsa-shut off ang ibang parts ng brain ng bata,” she added.
She further said, “pag nalaman mo ang anak mo may special needs kailangan merong dahilan e… so nung time na yun ang feeling ko kasalanan ko ‘to. Baka kasi masyado akong nagpaapekto sa pa-love life ko kaya emotional ako…”
Candy wanted to punish herself for what happened but then her doctor told her to focus on the solution. Candy also did not blame God. “I never questioned God. As a matter of fact I went to him.”
On the other hand, Candy revealed that she is also not getting any support from Quentin’s father. “No. I don’t know where he is.”
Candy said that for a time they had communication because she sued him for child support. But the case stopped because as Candy puts it, “Inisip ko kasi pambayad ko na lang sa therapy, kesa ibayad ko pa sa lawyer.”
“Kasi na-realize ko, pag ako nagngingitngit, ako lang naapektuhan. Forgiveness is freedom,” she told Boy Abunda when she was asked if she’s still angry with him.
Meanwhile, Candy’s beautiful journey with Quentin is in the book Mommy dear: Our Special Love, written by Candy.
