  • The show business is a big and unpredictable world, the celebrities you might be seeing now won’t stick along forever
  • Throughout the years, there are some Filipino celebrities in the past and present who decided to live a normal life far from the spotlight

Let’s face it, there’s more to life than showbiz. Not everyone clicks and catches the hearts and taste of the audience and not all artists enjoy the life of a celebrity. At some points, we heard about artists fleeing, going abroad, settling down, and leaving their careers behind.

We created a list of former child stars and veterans in the industry who chose to keep a distance from the limelight. There’s no shame as most of them are really fulfilling their lives out there!

Krista Ranillo

Coming from a “showbiz family,” Krista Ranillo was born to be on-screen. True enough, she’s behind some daring and challenging roles in various TV shows in  different networks such as “Rio Del Mar,” “Pieta,” “Precious Hearts Romances Presents,” “May Bukas Pa,” and “Agimat.”

She chose to take off from acting to pursue a law degree. Now, she’s settled down with her husband  businessman Nino Jefferson Lim with their three kids.

Carol Banawa

Carol came from the Star Magic batch 4 of ABS-CBN’s talent firm. She was part of the iconic children oriented show “Ang TV” along with several rising stars at the time. She’s also involved in the music industry and was deemed notable for her song in the ABS-CBN series “Mara Clara.”

Currently, she’s based in the United States.

Beth Tamayo

In 1990’s, Beth Tamayo was shining bright as an actress. However, due to alleged death threats and conflicts in the Philippines, she decided to migrate to the U.S.

She said in an interview with PEP.ph, “I’m living a more normal life here. I work in an office, I’m an admin there. A whole different thing sa ginagawa ko sa Manila, but I’m happy.”

Joyce Jimenez

Tagged as “Pantasya Ng Bayan,” Joyce Jimenez was once the face every man dreams about. She was the star in many sexy films and posed for men’s magazines.

In 2008, she married a Fil-Am member of the US Air Force. They already have three kids and living a happy life in America.

Nancy Castiglione

Filipina-Italian star Nancy Castiglione sparked attention in the early 2000s when she was appearing in commercials for big brands such as Red Horse, Piattos, and Nestlé Yogurt. Her big break was being part of GMA Network’s hit fantasy series “Mulawin” and soon ventured to hosting.

Nancy was also a singer and was even tagged as the “Kylie Minogue of the Philippines.”

In 2009, she gave birth to twins and since then wanted to devote herself to being a regular mom.

Cindy Kurleto

Cindy Kurleto emerged as model and actress back in the days. She’s also a promising sexy actress and like Joyce, made noise for being covergirl in men’s magazines. Aside from that, she’s part of many TV programs as a Kapuso, such as the longest running noontime show “Eat Bulaga.”

In 2007, she migrated to Peru with her partner and their kids.

Ehra Madrigal

The Kapuso actress just wed earlier this year in Boracay to her boyfriend Tom Yeung. It was starstudded because it served as Ehra’s farewell to showbiz because she will be settling down now.

Ehra’s known for her daring roles in various TV series in the Kapuso network.

Giselle Anne “G” Töngi-Walters (G Toengi)

The actress, dancer, singer, host, VJ & model had a great career in the Philippines despite being foreign to the country. She’s known for her role in “That’s Entertainment,” “Palibhasa Lalake,” and some hosting stints.

She left the Philippine limelight to try her luck in Hollywood in 2004.

Jewel Mische

Jewel Mische debuted in the show business through GMA Network’s talent search “StarStruck.” Since then, she received several work opportunities and soon moved to Kapamilya.

Her memorable roles were in various shows such as “Maalaala Mo Kaya,” “100 Days in Heaven,” “Maria la del Barrio,” and “I Dare You Season 2.”

She met her husband through an online website and wed him in 2014.

Serena Dalrymple

Former child star Serena Dalrymple starred in famous shows in the late 90’s. She even received a FAMAS Best Child Actress award for the movie ‘Bata, Bata, Pa’no Ka Ginawa?’

Serena also appeared in numerous notable  films like ‘Hiling,’ ‘Mila,’ and ‘Tanging Ina.’

Currently, she resides in New York and works as as a manager for Viacom, a famous media network in the U.S.

Andi Eigenmann

The most recent and controversial showbiz departure is Andi Eigenmann’s. She came from a family of award-winning artists as her mother is no other than veteran actress Jaclyn Jose.

Andi was part of numerous blockbuster shows and movies including “Agua Bendita,” “Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin,” A Secret Affair,” “Camp Sawi,” and “The Greatest Love.”

She was the talk of town when she got pregnant five years ago. In a interview with ABS-CBN, Andi revealed the reason why she officially quit showbiz.

“FYI, FAME IS NOT THE SOLUTION. And it pains me to [see] that there are people like you who think that this is something I should even be be sad about.

“I left because I was not happy.”

Miss them? What’s your reaction?
