Marissa Lumanlan, the mother of the late Hashtags member, Franco Hernandez, commented on a Facebook post supporting the details that Janica Nam Floresca, girlfriend of Franco, recently disclosed in an exclusive interview with PEP.ph. For the first time, Janica spoke out about the full and real story about the drowning incident that led to his untimely death in Davao Occidental last November 11.
Janica claimed that she wanted to straighten out the different story that the two boatmen, Rico Igalan and Efren Kilang, reported. They were both with Janica, Franco, Tom Doromal and other passengers when huge waves hit their motorized boat.
According to Janica, they also didn’t rush Franco to the hospital right away. Janica also condemned the statements of the boatmen. They did not remind them nor gave them life jackets. Then, in an interview with PEP.ph with Janica and Franco’s parents (Raul and Marissa Lumanlan), she claimed:
“Kasi hindi naman talaga ni-rush. And ako lang yung nag-rush. Ako lang yung sumama. Sumunod lang sila. Tapos, dun sa mga bangkero na—hindi ko alam kung bakit nila nasabi yun—na meron daw life vest. Ayaw daw namin suotin. Sila yung nagpatalon sa amin. Wala silang life vest. Tsaka hindi kami dapat aalis dun hangga’t hindi namin sinusuot yung life vest, di ba? Dapat ganun. Or kahit meron man lang sa banca na life vest na iniwan—as in, wala talaga.”
Meanwhile, Marissa commented on the interview posted on the Facebook.
“Paglilinaw lang, Hindi siya nirush sa hospital ng mga bangkerong nagrescue sa kanya. (Kahit ang paniwala namin ay dadalin sya). Dinala lang sya sa bahay nila Tom dahil may nurse daw doon. Unfortunately doon sya namatay. Pero nagpumilit pa din si Nam na dalhin si Franco sa ospital dahil umaasa pa na marerevive sya. We are waiting for part 2 of this interview dahil hindi sinama ang paglalhad ng panayam nung pagkakuha kay Franco sa shore at dinala kela Tom. A very crucial part of the story.”
However, the detail about the “very crucial part of the story” mentioned in the said comment is the bump on Franco’s head. When Raul and Marissa saw Franco’s body, Raul noticed some blood between his head and shoulder. Raul didn’t further ask about it due to emotional reasons. Franco’s parents also confirmed that they don’t plan on asking for legal investigations.
“Basta ang purpose kasi namin, we want to stick to our objective. Ang objective lang namin is to tell what really happened. Now, kung anuman ang imbestigasyon o anuman ang etcetera, ayaw na namin dumating sa punto na yun. Si Franco, kilala namin ‘yan. Ayaw niya ng kumplikasyon. Ayaw niya ng magulo. Gusto niya, kung ano yung nangyari, ‘yan na ‘yan. Basta ipaalam mo lang kung ano yung totoong nangyari. Kung anuman ang puwedeng mangyari after, hindi na namin i-initiate yun or what.”
