  • New Design Graduates Training was developed by the Design Center of the Philippines, an agency attached to the Department of Trade and Industry.

The works of 15 young designers are showcased in the exhibit “Edit: Objects Redesigned.” The designers have successfully completed the first phase of the New Design Graduates Training (NDGT) program. The exhibit features popular pieces that the designers redesigned and introduce to prolong their durability and enhance their commercial viability. NDGT was developed by the Design Center of the Philippines, an agency attached to the Department of Trade and Industry. A track under Design Center’s Design Competency Development Program, it serves as an avenue for young designers to enhance their skills and competencies through intensive training conducted by recognized program mentors. It is a 16-month training program divided into three phases.

Photo shows (Center, L-R) Design Center’s Executive Director Maria Rita O. Matute; NDGT Program Adviser Josef Crisanto; and DOST Secretary Fortunato Dela Peña, Sr., with the NDGT participants (first line, L-R) Gerbert Balaoro; Jilyn Astillero; Pauline Kimberly Co; Todd Wyatt Paul Benedicto; Adam Dominiq Domingo; Mark Joecil Escame; Louisa Veronica Ilustre; Alexandra Daphne Legaspi; Angel Kris Mayor; Hannah Grace Tusi; Razel Mari Sta. Rita; (second line, L-R) Rey Mark Aragon; Joseph Raphael Espinosa; Joseph Yap; and Clark Adrian Mendoza.

The 15 designers will proceed to the next two phases, which include apprenticeship and actual design practice. The exhibit is open to the public and is held at the office of the Design Center of the Philippines at the CCP Complex, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
