- Kapamilya singer Erik Santos reacted on the controversial ‘coming out’ of his close friend, Mark Bautista.
- The 35-year old singer admitted that he was surprised by Mark’s decision.
In an interview with PEP.ph, Kapamilya singer Erik Santos was asked about his reaction to the controversial coming out of his close friend, Mark Bautista.
The 35-year old singer said that he respects his friend’s individuality and preferences in life.
“Ako, kung anuman yung nararamdaman niya, kung anuman yung ginagawa niya ngayon, I respect that. And I respect him as my friend, as a person, as an individual,” he answered.
“Ako kasi, I respect all my friends—their talent, their individuality, kung sino sila. Wala namang perfect. Kung ano yung preference nila, kung ano yung maging desisyon nila sa buhay, sila yun, I respect that,” he added.
According to Erik, he was surprised upon knowing Mark’s decision to come out as bisexual through his book “Beyond The Mark.” He said that he has no idea that the singer-actor is a bisexual.
“Wala akong natatandaan na nai-share niya yun sa amin before,” Erik stated.
“Nagulat ako nong nabalitaan ko na naglabas nga siya ng book. Sobra akong na-surprise. May mga naririnig ako about the book, pero ayokong magtanong, e, nahihiya ako,” he continued.
Erik was also asked if he is worried about Mark’s career after his controversial revelation about his gender preference.
“I’m sure bago niya napagdesisyunan ‘yang mga bagay na ‘yan, marami na rin siyang kinonsider na maaaring mangyari. So, I think, prepared naman siya sa kung anuman ang mangyayari sa future,” he responded.
The “ASAP” mainstay singer believes that Mark aims to inspire other people through his courage and braveness to share his true identity.
“Hindi ko kasi tinitignan kung ano yung isiniwalat niya sa book or what. If his objective is to inspire other people, if that his way of inspiring other people, why not? Basta ako, mabait siya, mabait siyang tao, mabuti siyang kaibigan. Okey yun sa akin, walang nagbabago,” he ended.
