- Jeepney TV’s “Ryan Ryan Musikahan Special” is Gandingan 2018’s Most Development-Oriented Musical Program

“Para Sa Bayan: A Ryan Ryan Musikahan Special,” produced by Jeepney TV, was recognized for its musical performances that stirred patriotic fervor through inspiring songs as it won this year’s Gandingan Award for the Most-Development-Oriented Musical Program.
“Jeepney TV stands proud in celebrating the legacy of one of Philippine TV’s iconic programs, with our “Ryan Ryan Musikahan” specials being recognized by prestigious award-giving bodies such as the Gandingan Awards,” said Cindy de Leon, Jeepney TV’s channel head and overall-in- charge of the show’s production. “We are happy to know that the program’s equity has been extended to a new and younger set of viewers.”
The award-winning special was directed by Johnny Manahan and hosted by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab, with guest performers John Arcilla, Bituin Escalante, Morisette Amon, and Darren Espanto.
Joining them were Ebe Dancel, LJ Manzano Te, the Ryan Cayabyab Singers, and Juan Miguel Severo. In between performances were sharing of nationalistic stories and prevailing Filipino values.
Aside from “Para Sa Bayan: A Ryan Ryan Musikahan Special,” Jeepney TV produced three other specials: “Ryan Ryan Musikahan Home For Christmas,” which was given a Special Citation for Best TV Special in the Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) 2015; CMMA 2016 finalist “Ryan Ryan Musikahan Piyano at Gitara;” and Gandingan 2017 and CMMA 2016 finalist “Ryan Ryan Musikahan Christmas from the Heart.”
The musical program “Ryan Ryan Musikahan” first aired on ABS-CBN from 1988 to 1995, showcasing the country’s best performers led by the legendary maestro. Jeepney TV’s “Ryan Ryan Musikahan Specials” upgraded the show’s format to a two-hour concert performed before a live audience.
In line with Jeepney TV’s intention of celebrating television’s best moments, past episodes of “Ryan Ryan Musikahan” were re-aired on the cable channel in 2012 and continue to air every Saturday night to date. At its new home, the multi-awarded show has appealed to a new generation of viewers and has recaptured the hearts of its loyal followers.
Gandingan 2018: The 12th UPLB Isko’t Iska’s Multi-Media Awards’ was held recently in the University of the Philippines Los Baños in Laguna led by the UP Community Broadcasters’ Society, Inc.
