Anne Curtis to play Valentina in upcoming “Darna” movie?

  • Erik Matti didn’t quit directing the upcoming movie Darna.
  • He acknowledged Anne Curtis’ openness on playing Valentina.
  • He also confirmed whether Liza will have a leading man or not.

Erik Matti set the record straight in quitting as upcoming Darna movie director. He revealed whether they already had an actress set to play Valentina, the snake goddess and one of Darna‘s greatest enemies.

He then shared whether Liza Soberano would have a leading man or not.

In an interview with and Cinema News, Erik shared that they already had shots done. However, they had to take a break to prepare for the huge scenes.

He also declared that unless he’s fired, he won’t quit on Darna.

“We had shoots already but we have to take a break to prepare for everything, for the big ones. We started already two months ago, we started shooting the simpler scenes first, the ones that are easy to prepare for but aside from that we had to get ready for the bigger stuff, the more complicated set ups. That’s what we are preparing for in the next few weeks… Sabi ko nga unless I’m fired, I’m very much still into Darna.”

He shared that he wanted the movie to be perfect as it has been 22 or 23 years. He also acknowledged Anne Curtis’ openness on playing Valentina.

“Mayroon na pero di pa puwedeng i-reveal baka magka-subpoena ako. Maraming mangyayari, it’s been 22, 23 years since the last Darna. I’m not counting the one in TV but as a film. Imagine how epic that should be and all these years of waiting, parang ang baba naman ng napuntahan ko na parang Gagamboy ko lang yung kakalabasan… Anne? We don’t know pero puwedeng mangyari.”

Reports suggested that Tony Labrusca will play as Liza’s leading man. Although Erik confirmed Liza will have a leading man, he didn’t confirm or deny that Tony will act alongside Liza.

“Mayroon bang popcorn movie na wala? Mayroon ‘yan. Wala pa kaming sure na mga pangalan whether leading man or not.”
