Alden Richards is Victor Magtanggol. In an interview with 24 Oras, he is proud of how the visual effects of his fantasy series will be something to look forward to. The series’ concept artist, Edrian Baydo, also shared how he made the designs as close to Norse icons and inspired from the Viking age.

Two levels higher.
Alden also commended the effects that he has seen so far.
“Parang two levels higher yung mga nakita kong mga effects. So, this is really something to look forward to.”
Alden also expressed his gratitude toward Edrian and his team.
“Yung sa team ni Edrian, I’m very grateful. Kasi very open siya sa feedback ko since very hands-on ako sa VM (Victor Magtanggol).”
Designs with Filipino elements.
Edrian also shared that he tried to make the designs as close to the Norse icons. He continued that the design and shape of Mjolnir was inspired by the Viking battle axe.
“We tried to make it look na as close doon sa icon, sa Norse icon ng Mjolnir. Doon sa silhouette niya, kung titingnan mo… I borrowed the shape design ng Viking battle axe.”
Edrian added that he based it on the Viking age with a touch of Filipino elements.
“Basis pa rin namin yung Viking age na battle armor tapos incorporate lang rin ‘yung Filipino elements.”

Cathy Frayco, visual effects supervisor, also noted how they try to be faithful to the design.
“Maganda kasi yung from the initial design palang nung lead designer natin. So, tinatry talaga namin na maging faithful dun sa design.”
She mentioned how this will be their first time to use motion-capture technology on Philippine TV.
“From the actor and then, saka namin ica-capture ‘yung motion niya. Then, iinterpret siya into CGI.”
Cathy also shared how people should watch out for Alden’s transformation into being a superhero.
“Yung transformation of Victor Magtanggol as a normal or a mortal then magiging Victor Magtanggol as our superhero.”
