KathNiel’s “The Hows Of Us” smashes Box-Office Records on its Opening Day

Star Cinema reported that ‘The Hows Of Us’, posted a record-breaking ₱35, 938, 622.74 million pesos gross earnings on its opening day, Wednesday, August 29.

The romantic-drama movie features Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla under the direction of Cathy Garcia-Molina.

In their new movie, Bernardo and Padilla stepped up their game. They are out to try something more out-of-the-box, a major leap from the romantic comedies they are more known for.

Direk Cathy said that fans should expect something different. “I am very happy for the two. Matagal nang hinihingan ako ng mga fans na something different, level up ganyan, and more mature roles.”

Kathryn added that it is their goal to try more mature roles and hone their acting skills in the process.

Daniel said that everyone should focus on the story, “Actually ‘yung mismong istorya, ‘yung mismong laman, ang core ng pelikula na ‘to is ‘yun ‘yung kailangan nilang abangan.”

Compared to this year’s local movie offerings, ‘The Hows Of Us’ now holds the highest opening PH movie gross. ‘Sid & Aya’ got only ₱9 million on its opening day while ‘Miss Granny‘ earned 7.5 million.

Currently, the record holder of the highest opening PH movie gross of all-time with ₱70 million is ‘The Super Parental Guardians’ topbilled by Vice Ganda and Coco Martin followed by My Bebe Love: #KiligPaMore’ with ₱60.4 million. Both were MMFF entries.

Meanwhile, John Lloyd-Bea Alonzo starrer ‘A Second Chance’ shown before MMFF, has earned ₱43.3 million on its opening day.

Thousands of people lined up on the first day to watch the KathNiel’s latest film. It was expected from the start to break existing box-office records because it could be the last of KathNiel love team with the box-office director Garcia-Molina. Once again, the KathNiel fandom has chalked a new record and has added another achievement.
