- GMA Network’s upcoming musical variety show “Studio 7” will replace “The Clash” and not “Sunday PinaSaya.”
- GMA Network is confident that “Sunday PinaSaya” can compete with “ASAP.”
- “Sunday PinaSaya” has been running for three years now against “ASAP.”
GMA Network has a new musical variety show titled “Studio 7” and everyone expected that the show’s purpose was to compete with ABS-CBN’s “ASAP.”
Apparently, everyone got it all wrong. The Kapuso Network announced that “Studio 7” will take the timeslot of “The Clash” and will air its first episode on October 14.
This leaves “Sunday PinaSaya” to continue to compete with “ASAP.”
GMA Network has had several Sunday variety shows in the past such as ‘SOP,’ ‘Party Pilipinas,’ and ‘Sunday All Stars.’ Sadly, all these shows were not able to beat “ASAP.”
“Sunday PinaSaya,” on the other hand, has been running for three years now. GMA Network has high hopes with the show and believes that it can very well compete with ‘ASAP.’
Ruth Marinas, a production manager in GMA Network, said, “Sunday PinaSaya is doing very well, so parang okay na siya doon, e.”
“So gumawa kami ng pang-gabi naman (Studio 7), parang Penthouse (Live!). Si SPS na sa ASAP, okay na siya doon.
“Doing well naman si SPS, there’s no reason na ilipat siya or whatever. Hindi, e. Ang lakas lakas ng SPS.”
‘Penthouse Live!’ is the defunct musical-variety show of GMA Network hosted by Pops Fernandez and Martin Nievera that aired from 1982 to 1987.
The fact that “Sunday PinaSaya” has survived the fierce competition can only mean that it can really go head to head with “ASAP.”
