- Jake Cuenca and Sab Jose star in a theatrical work-of-art, LUNGS.
- They portray a couple trying to have a baby.
- LionHearTV listed down reasons why LUNGS is a unique theater piece.
Jake Cuenca‘s theatrical debut became a huge hit. He starred in LUNGS with Sab Jose and portrayed a young man trying to have a baby with his partner. Although he is mostly seen in television shows as a hard and tough character, he showed his versatility in his portrayal. Here are three reasons why LUNGS is such a unique work-of-art.
The Set and Costume.
The production didn’t spoonfeed us (the audience) with information and let us use our own imagination. The entire theatrical play was set in different places such as: their home, a park, a bar, the hospital and so much more. The set, however, is only a cube of lights which they called a “Ribcage.”
The two stars, Jake and Sab, also never changed their clothes and make-up. Jake only wore white plain shirt, blue jeans and a pair of black sneakers. Sab, on the other hand, wore a white top, an off-white cardigan, blue jeans and brown flat shoes. Although they only wore one outfit, the lack of costume change was an unusual and fresh step.
The Story and Characters.
Jake and Sab plays a man and a woman. Their characters don’t have any names which is another unusual thing. They, however, play every couple (married or not) who is trying to have a baby. Jake portrays every man who strives to be the perfect dad material. Sab plays every woman who wants to have a baby to love and cherish.
Jake and Sab’s characters tell the story of love, heartbreak, anxiety and disappointment. They also share a story of desire, hope, chaos and accomplishment.
Not giving their characters names is just like saying that they are every man, every woman and every couple you know who is trying to have a happy family.
