GMA News and Public Affairs receives the innovation funding grant from the online video platform YouTube. This will enable GMA News to mount a major innovation project involving news.
A weeknight news program produced by the young, and for the young titled “Stand for Truth: powered by GMA’s Digital Video Lab” contains elements that have never been used before in traditional newscasts.
It will be led by a young set of reporters from around the country and will be powered by GMA Digital Video Lab. The said program will launch a month before the 2019 elections, presumably April 2019.
Nessa Valdellon, GMA Network’s First Vice President for Public Affairs, said, “This is our opportunity to create a prototype of the GMA newsroom of the future.”
“We will be producing Stand for Truth with YouTube’s funding – a newscast for younger viewers which will innovate in its digital executions. We can’t help but be excited!”
Via the “Stand for Truth” program, the news network will train and develop young, principled journalists from all over the country to continue the legacy of the GMA newsroom as they help equally young viewers to take a stand on important issues.
The YouTube Innovation Grant only further solidifies GMA News and Public Affairs standing as one of the leading broadcast news organization in the country.
