- ABS-CBN crowned Angel Locsin as the Action-Drama Queen
- Her return after five years garnered positive reactions from the viewers and got high ratings on Kantar Media
It’s been a while since we saw Angel Locsin on our television sets. She may had a stint in KathNiel’s “La Luna Sangre,” but Angel was not the flag bearer of that show.
She was merely a guest star and all the credits went to lead stars Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.

A record holder
Angel Locsin is no doubt the queen of primetime TV. Her “Darna” stint still holds the record of highest rating ever achieved by a teleserye with 52.1% according to AGB Nielsen. The show’s pilot week average was 50.08% and its lowest was 33.3%. It also became the first primetime television series in the Philippines to earn 47.1% rating in its pilot episode; the highest rating for a pilot episode in Philippine television history.
Everyone thought that transferring to ABS-CBN after being on top of the GMA Network stars will be a bad move for her but she proved them wrong. She won her very first acting award on her first year on ABS-CBN and received numerous citations and awards from then on. Her very first teleserye “Lobo” on ABS-CBN gave her an international recognition from International Emmy Awards.
Explosive comeback.
Angel Locsin returns to television after 5 years on Monday, January 21 in the new show The General’s Daughter. People are looking forward to her small screen comeback – her last show as lead, was 2014’s “The Legal Wife.”
“The General’s Daughter” sees Rhian (Angel) caught between two families – the De Leons and the Guerreros. Growing up under the care of Santiago Guerrero (Tirso Cruz III), she is made to believe that the De Leons are their enemies, not realizing they are her true parents. Rhian also finds herself caught between two men – Franco (Paulo Avelino) and Ethan (JC de Vera), as they fight for her attention. At the same time, Rhian has to contend with a jealous Jessie (Ryza Cenon), who wants Ethan back for herself.
Billed as the “biggest teleserye” of 2019, the Dreamscape production was the No. 1 show in its time slot, with a nationwide rating of 34% versus “Onanay’s” 14%. Kantar Media data also show that “The General’s Daughter” registered wide ratings leads in metro (38.3% vs. 10.3%) and urban (34.4% vs. 15.3%) territories.
Even in GMA Network’s NUTAM, “The General’s Daughter” scored 15.9% while “Onanay” only got 10.0%.
Action-Drama Queen.
Angel Locsin is a one-of-a-kind talent and an award-winning actress with about 40 awards under her belt. So when ABS-CBN crowned Angel as the Action-Drama Queen during the grand launch of her new teleserye “The General’s Daughter,” no one dared to question the title considering all the records she broke and the awards she’s got in the entertainment industry.

Fans were eager to give the actress a title in the industry to remember by, but she remains humble and won’t accept any title. “I’m very thankful na ganu’n ‘yung ipinakita nilang suporta pero honestly for me, feeling ko, hindi ako deserving do’n,” she said during the presscon.
