Anne Curtis’ “Aurora” breaches ₱100 million mark

Viva Films’ “Aurora”, the MMFF 2018 entry of Anne Curtis, continues to perform well in the box office amidst stiff competition with other entries.

This horror movie earned ₱107 million in the Philippine box-office, according to producer Viva Films.

Through an Twitter post of Viva Films, it was revealed that the movie reached this box-office gross within 15 days.

“Maraming salamat po sa inyong suporta! Patuloy nating tangkilikin ang pelikulang Filipino! #AuroraTheMovie is still showing in cinemas nationwide!”

Aurora” is Anne’s third movie in 2018, after the huge box office success of “Sid & Aya” (Not a Love Story) last May, followed by her staggering performance in the action thriller “BuyBust” in August last year.

The movie revolves around Anne’s character Leana, a young innkeeper who helps recover the bodies of the missing passengers for a promised reward. Over a thousand passengers perish when a passenger ship named “Aurora” collides into a rocky shore. Many of the dead bodies turn up along the shore of the tiny island near the shipwreck, but many are still missing, and their distressed families are in need of a place to stay in as the search continues.

This mystery thriller is directed by Yam Laranas, the highly acclaimed director of “Sigaw” (2004) which was turned into a Hollywood film entitled “The Echo” (2008), “The Road”, and “Abomination”. He also wrote the screenplay of “Aurora” with Gin de Mesa (All Souls’ Night) and serves as one of the producers.
