The long wait is finally over, as the most-awaited Filipino adaptation of the Koreanovela ‘Descendants of the Sun’ has found its lead for ‘Big Boss’ or Captain Yoo Si-Jin im none other than the Kapuso Primetime actor, Dingdong Dantes.
The great news was disclosed on April 22 by GMA Network, together with his contract signing. Dingdong, overflowing with happiness and excitement, expressed his utmost gratitude to the Network for their trust.
“Masayang masaya ako na pinagkatiwala sakin ‘tong project na ‘to.”
He also assured that he is very much prepared to portray the huge role, especially now that he has an additional inspiration, which is Baby Ziggy, his newborn son with wife Marian Rivera.
“More than very physically prepared, I’m emotionally, spiritually prepared, lalo na napaka espesyal nito.
“Iba yung inspirasyon ko ngayon at hugot ngayong chapter nitong buhay ko.”
‘Big Boss’ or Captain Yoo Si-Jin, originally played by Song Joong Ki, is the team leader of a special forces team who’s dedicated to defending his fellowmen. He is characterized as easy-going, playful, straightforward, and charismatic but also brave, skillful, and loyal to his country. He is also determined to gain the affection of Doctor Kang Mo-yeon, which was played by Song Hye Kyo.
Dingdong, on the other hand, fits the character well for he too had played action roles, some of these where ‘Cain and Abel,’ ‘Alyas Robinhood,’ and ‘Encantadia.’
Netizens having heard about the news can’t help but also express their excitement and hopes that he will be partnered with Marian Rivera.
