Ben Tulfo made remarks against Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez over a tweet made by the singer-actress for Foreign Affairs secretary Teddy Locsin Jr. last week.
Using Facebook live, Tulfo berated Velasquez, who he insinuated knows nothing other than singing.
“Ang mensahe ko sa ‘yo, Regine Velasquez, next time you open your mouth, think. Make sure na may laman ang utak mo. Hindi mo ito balwarte. Yung kaalaman mo, itago mo na lang. Gawin mo na lang, una, kung paano ka manumbalik sa publiko na kilala ka pa, The Songbird of Asia.”
For the journalist, the singer has no capability in speaking about the national issue. “Ano bang alam nitong si Regine Velasquez other than kumanta lamang?” Ben Tulfo said.
Marami pang sinabi si Tulfo pero iisa ang tinutumbok: wag makialam sa isyu si Regine, because “wala kang alam.”
This came after the singer wrote a reaction to Locsin’s statement about the alleged collection of endangered giant clams by Chinese vessels in Scarborough Shoal.
Husband to the rescue
Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid fired back at Ben Tulfo after the latter attacked the tweet of his wife against Teddy Locsin, Jr. Ogie Alcasid defended his wife against the harsh comments from the journalist, “Sir @bitagbentulfo . I offer my cheek to you. After you have maligned my wife I ask that you focus on me. She is after all a lady. God bless you sir.”

Fans of the couple agreed to what he said while some advised him not to pay attention to someone like Ben Tulfo. There were several netizens who also fired back at the veteran journalist, after he expressed his thoughts against Regine.

Tulfo eventually replied to Alcasid’s tweet, “I am not here to hurt anyone. I am talking with sincerity and truthfulness. this is a serious issue. Tell your wife to focus on her career. Please, not foreign relations and issues. I do respect you and your wife.”

I did. Let’s not bring this up any longer. I called the man out and he replied. Gave his respect and and I gave mine back. I offered my cheek so he may strike. But he did not. I read in the Bible that we must not resist evil and that when we are struck, offer the other cheek
