  • Regine Velasquez-Alcasid is lately active on reacting to social issues regarding the Scarborough Shoal
  • Regine emphasized that she does not interfere with the controversy, rather she is just expressing her concern towards the country
  • Regine revealed that her reactions towards the issue is mainly for her son to still have a great place to live in

Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez-Alcasid answered back on a critic, after it claimed that she must not interfere with the social issues of the Scarborough Shoal.

Regine first commented on the issue when it was reported that the coral reefs on the Shoal were damaged due to China’s alleged taking of giant clams, which resulted in coral destruction. Then again, she lambasted Foreign Affairs chief Teodoro Locsin Jr. for his statement, as he regarded it as a food problem and it’s not an issue that needed to go on a war.

Ang akala ko pa naman matalino ka. Ako ay simpling tao lamang na may simpleng pagiisip. These people are invading our territory they are not just taking food sinistral nila ang ating karagatan!!!!

Still, Regine stands with her claim that the controversy is a territorial problem and it is something that must be resolved in a matter of time.

However, a netizen stated that Regine should not interfere in the issue if in the first place she does not know the basic facts about it. The critic added that the singer should do her research before reacting, to not embarrass herself in public.

“Idol kita ma’am pero sana wag ka sumali sa China at Pinas na usapin kasi di lahat nakikita sa balita totoo. Matoto po kayong magbasa at mag research po para di kayo mapahiya. TY!”

Regine countered the critic and emphasized that she is not interfering with the situation, rather she is expressing her concern for the country, adding that she just wants her son to still have the luxury of seeing how beautiful the country is.

“Hindi po ako sumasali, may malasakit lang po ako sa bansa natin. I have nothing against anyone. I just want my son to enjoy this beautiful country.”

Indeed, Regine is one of the strong voices that speak out about the social issues that this country is currently facing.
