Kapamilya actress Angelica Panganiban has politely declined a fan who asked for a selfie.
In an Instagram post, the Banana Sundae star courteously answered a fan why she no longer allows fans to take a selfie with her.
Angge, as she is fondly called by her fans and close friends, apologized for not giving in to a selfie request during her private time. Panganiban asked the fan to respect her privacy as an individual and offered hugs instead.
“Sorry, I wasn’t working that time. I hope you understand and respect my privacy. I love hugs tho,” Angelica posted.
2016 rude selfie experience.
Angelica’s response was rooted from a 2016 incident where she was humiliated by a KathNiel fan who had asked to take a picture with her.
In May 2016, Angelica through a tweet blasted a certain Xhainelle Perez for being rude and ungrateful for a photo opportunity.
“Ay… Sorry ate ha? Pinagtyagaan mo ko. Sige. Ganito na lang. From now on. D na ko papayag magpapicture kahit kanino,” Angelica tweeted.

Perez wanted to take a selfie with her idols Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla but she misunderstood what Daniel said about only taking photos after they were done with their watersport activity. She mistakenly thought Daniel had refused, saying, “NO KATHNIEL FANS AND SELFIES ALLOWED” during their private time in Boracay.
Perez then said she settled for a photo with Angelica but eventually belittled the actress in a controversial Facebook post.
After that incident, Angelica promised not to take any selfies again with fans during her private time.
“From now on. D na ko papayag magpapicture kahit kanino,” Angelica said in the tweet.
Meanwhile, Panganiban also said that fans here in the Philippines should be thankful whenever an actor allows a photo opportunity even during their private time because that is not how it works in other countries.
Mabuti nga dito sa Pinas, pwede kayo magpapicture sa artista. Kahit private time namin, kalerks.

After she was bashed by netizens and fellow fans for her rude behavior, Perez apologized to the actress.
“First of all, I would like to say sorry to Miss Angelica. I would like to clarify that I was true that time when I asked you if it is okay to have a picture with you, maybe I was just shocked about the reaction I’ve got.”
She has also deleted her Facebook post regarding the selfie with Angelica.
