Her Star Magic manager, Luz Bagalacsa was the one who made the pairing possible. Her post have made the DonKiss fans assumed that the loveteam was already in the verge of a split-up.
She posted a lengthy statement about the DonKiss disbandment and extended her apology for her fans who planned to assemble at ABS-CBN to make an appeal for the tandem.
“I apologize for my social media blackout. I believe that my supporters have the right to know that the ‘DonKiss’ partnership has long been over. There has been an ongoing plan from my DonKiss supporters to assemble at ABS-CBN today to appeal for this onscreen partnership. I was notified of this news because they my DonKiss supporters are encouraging my solid supporters to join their appeal,” she wrote.
She also addressed the fandom war between DonKiss and “the other ship of my former on-screen partner” presumably referring to SharDon or Sharlene San Pedro and Donny. Rumors surfaced that fans of Pangilinan and his co-MYX VJ San Pedro are pushing for the two stars collaboration on a project.
“However as much as I understand the bleeding hearts of my supporters, I am not in favor of this fandom war of my DonKiss supporters against the other ship of my former onscreen partner to go on any further. I shall not permit myself to be involved in the situation where two girls are being pitted against each other, a war they may not even want to be in, just to earn the ‘victory’ of being a guy’s love team,” she added.
Donny’s dad and co-manager, Anthony Pangilinan also expressed his support for DonKiss but he said that according to Donny, the disbandment was a “direction of Star Magic management and is due to different expectations of the two parties from the loveteam”. He wrote on Twitter:
Hi Marge. We’ve been 100% with DonKiss. As Donny shared in last meet, the current direction for both by SM mgmt is due to different expectations of the 2 parties from the LT. Not 1 being right or wrong, just different. If we choose to, we can hope and pray for our desired future. https://t.co/OLAC861TQx
