  • In an interview of Jose Manalo, one of the co-hosts of Eat Bulaga, he cleared up some speculations of netizens

The tandem of Maine Mendoza and Alden Richards—otherwise known as AlDub—kept the viewers of Eat Bulaga! entertained with their “kalyeserye” for more than a year. The phenomenally popular love team would go on to do commercials, movies, and a series all the while giving their fans the kilig feels.

But by mid-2018, the pair went their separate ways to focus on their solo projects. Rumors that Maine was dating Kapamilya actor Arjo Atayde were soon confirmed. Alden, who remains unattached, will be starring in a movie with Kathryn Bernardo titled Hello, Love, Goodbye which was partially shot in Hong Kong.

The separate personal and professional lives made the fans even more sad about the split. Some also observed that the two are rarely seen together while hosting Eat Bulaga, This made the people conclude that the show was tolerating the separation.

In an interview with Jose Manalo, the Eat Bulaga co-host explained that it is not a deliberate move to separate the two.

“Sa Eat Bulaga kasi, siguro iyong portion namin—maraming portion sa Bulaga—so bawa’t host, binibigyan sila ng kanyan-kanya,” Jose explained

”Pero noon time na magkasama, minsan kasama rin naming sila,” still explaining.

When Jose was asked if the two are fighting off cam, he said, “Parang mga bata ang dalawa pang nagbibiruan.”

Jose also mentioned that Maine has changed a lot and he’s proud of her achievements.
