- Eddie Garcia in coma after incident during taping
Prayers poured in for veteran actor Eddie Garcia who was in critical condition after he met an accident in Manila, Saturday (June 8), morning.
According to a Facebook post of Director Armand Reyes, the 90-year-old actor fell during a taping for an upcoming GMA Network teleserye.
“Natumba siya kaninang umaga sa taping ng bagong teleseryeng ginagawa sa GMA-7,” the director said in his Facebook post, which was a reposting of Dave Rojo’s message asking for prayers for the recovery of the actor. He added that Garcia is now in a coma at the Mary Johnston Hospital in Tondo, Manila.
Celebrities and media friends of the multi-awarded actor took to social media on Saturday, following the news of his accident.
Kapamilya star Vice Ganda led the prayers, writing on Twitter: “Lord God we pray for Tito Eddie Garcia’s wellness and safety. He will be healed. We claim in Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Vice and Eddie first worked together on the hit comedy film Praybeyt Benjamin in 2011.

In his family’s official statement, they clarified that the actor suffered a heart attack and is now being observed and taken care of by his doctors. The family also thanked those who sent messages of concern and asked for more prayers for his speedy recovery.
