After 12 years, Jennylyn Mercado plays Super S of ‘Super Twins’ again

  • Super Twins was a hit fantasy series in 2007

Kapuso romcom queen Jennylyn Mercardo brought nostalgic vibes as she recently reprised her role as Super S from the 2007 hit series Super Twins. After 12 years, Super S made an appearance in the August 7 episode of the actress’ current series, Love You Two.

Her co-star and real-life bestie Nar Cabico portrayed Super T, the role originally played by Nadine Samonte.

Wearing their orange and blue costumes, the two gave copied the signature pose and uttered the Super Twins’ famous mantra: “Kapangyarihan ng araw, taglay na liwanag, kambal na lakas…Kami ang Super Twins.”

Super Twins was one of Jennelyn’s first primetime projects on GMA Network. It tells the story two young girls named Sha-sha (Nicole Dulalia) and Tin-tin (Ella Cruz), who possess a pair of rings that turn them into superheroines Super S (Jennylyn) and Super T (Nadine).

The cast of the series also included Marian Rivera, Cristine Reyes, and Dennis Trillo, the real-life partner of Jennylyn.

Jennylyn rose to fame when she was hailed as the winner of the first season of the reality talent competition StarStruck. She starred in several hit series and films in the GMA Network. Among her successful films, include English Only, Please (2014), The Prenup (2015), Walang Forever (2015), and Just the 3 of Us (2016). In 2017, she top-billed the Philippine remake of My Love from the Star.
