The unexpected passing of Eddie “Manoy” Garcia had saddened many Filipinos. The veteran actor had numerous contributions to the showbiz industry and his passing was a great loss.

GMA Network has been reportedly fully cooperating with the Department of Labor and Employment on the investigation regarding the incident.

Garcia got into an accident on the set of the GMA teleserye Rosang Agimat which has since been shelved.

GMA Network has disclosed a statement through the stock exchange that, “This is to inform the Exchange that the Company has been fully cooperating in the investigation of the DOLE.”

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III is still waiting for the report from their regional office on the investigation of Eddie Garcia’s accident.

The network confirmed as well, that they haven’t received any order from DOLE. “However, as of this writing, we have not received any order or resolution from DOLE regarding the aforementioned matter,”

It has been two months since Eddie Garcia passed away. He battled for 12 days in the hospital after the accident that happened during the taping of GMA’s shelved series Rosang Agimat.

According to Makati Medical Center spokesman Dr. Tony Rebosa, the veteran actor died due to complications from “cervical vertebrae fracture.”

Netizens feel that the passing of Eddie Garcia is unjustifiable and was a product of negligence.

Last July, Garcia’s stepson and 1-PACMAN party-list Rep. Michael Romero filed the House Bill 191 also known as the “Eddie Garcia Act” or the Actors Occupational Safety and Health Standard Bill, which requires safety and medical personnel deployment during work hours.

Also after Eddie’s passing, DOLE mentioned that Strict enforcement of occupational safety and health standards will be strictly observed.
