Network rivalry didn’t stop Megastar Sharon Cuneta from surprising Rhea Santos with a meet-up that the latter won’t forget before she migrates to Canada.
It was on Friday, August 2, when Santos emotionally bid goodbye to her home network and retired as a broadcast journalist to further her education in digital journalism in Canada. She is one of the well-known newscasters and anchors of the Kapuso Network. Aside from this, Santos is known as the longest-serving (19 years) and the most successful female morning show anchor in Philippine television history.
Sharon Cuneta, who is a contract artist of ABS-CBN, made an appearance on GMA’s public service show, Wish Ko Lang! last Sunday, August 4, 2019. Her appearance on the said program surprised the former newscaster of GMA for she was able to meet her idol Cuneta. Much to Santos’ surprise, she had a duet with the Megastar and sang the song “Pangarap Na Bituin.”
On Instagram, the Kapamilya artist shared a video clip of her surprise for Santos.

In the caption, Cuneta took the opportunity to thank Vicky Morales, Wish Ko Lang! host, for making the surprise possible. She also mentioned that she “refuses to be a part of the Network Wars” especially with GMA who helped her in her younger years so she feels a debt of gratitude to the network.
Sharon wrote, “Thanks to Vicky Morales, I was able to surprise Rhea Santos on Wish Ko Lang before she and her beautiful family left for Canada for good. We will miss you, Rhea!
“Though I am a Kapamilya, I refuse to be a part of the Network Wars. All stations, especially GMA, have helped me to become what I have in my career.
“And I was a Kapuso for a long time in my younger years, and so I have a loving family there too! Lots of love always.”
