- Janno Gibbs apologized to ABS-CBN’s Management for his careless joke about the network
- He is grateful to be a Kapamilya and it was not his intention to offend Star Music
- The actor is still hopeful to have projects with ABS-CBN
Janno Gibbs became a certified Kapamilya singer after signing a contract with the network’s music label Star Music in October 2018.
The comedian, actor, and singer-songwriter comeback with ABS-CBN marked an exciting turn of his career, a sort of homecoming of Small Brothers in tandem with Ogie Alcasid.
But things turned out differently when Janno expressed his disappointment on Instagram in a form of jest for his exclusion from the ABS-CBN Christmas Station ID 2018 while other popular singers were present.
The singer-comedian claimed that the Kapamilya network forgot about him with the hashtags “#wagnyoakohanapinsastationid” and “#asapnilayan.”
Some netizens supported him, while others asked him to delete the post because it is a display of unprofessionalism.
Claiming he had no intention of offending ABS-CBN Management, Janno expressed his apology.
On September 2, during the premiere night of movie Sanggano, Sangggago’t Sanggwapo, Janno explained his controversial post.

“I’m a comedian. In jest naman ‘yun, may halong patawa naman ‘yung post ko. Hindi ko inaalis sa mga [ABS-CBN] bosses na masaktan sila, kaya I’m really sorry for that. Ti-nake down ko naman ‘yung post na ‘yun,” he stated.
The actor humbly acknowledged his mistake and is still looking forward to projects with the network.
“Naisip ko na ‘ay baka dibdibin nila ‘to.’ Naisip ko na, ‘ay nagpapatawa lang naman ako at nagpapa-cute lang naman ako’ so I’m hoping na soon maka-trabaho ako sa ABS-CBN,” he said.
He explained that he is no longer under the contract of Star Music.
“I’m with VIVA Records na, but abangan nila pangungunahan ko na my kids will coming up for ABS-CBN. ‘Yun na lang muna sasabihin ko, abangan nila,” he added.
Recently, Janno posted a photo of co-stars Dennis Padilla and Andrew E. with the caption, “Pasasalamat sa network sa pagpapa-guest nito sa dalawa.”
Netizens were commenting why he was not included in the picture and he answered that he was not actually invited.
Speculations about Janno being banned from the network surfaced given an incident like this.
However last Sunday, September 8, Janno together with his co-stars Andrew E. and Dennis Padilla were invited to the gag show Banana Sundae to promote their movie, Sanggano, Sanggago’t Sanggwapo.
The three lead stars wore shirts printed with their movie’s title while having fun and exchanging jokes with the Sunday gag show stars.
The appearance of Janno on the show contradicts speculations that he is not allowed to promote his movie on ABS-CBN.
Sanggano, Sangggago’t Sanggwapo is a 2019 Philippine comedy film directed by Al Tantay under Viva Films. Starring Andrew E., Dennis Padilla, Janno Gibbs, and Louise delos Reyes, the film premiered on September 4.
