Kapuso comedian Super Tekla is not affected by people comparing him to the phenomenal comedian Vice Ganda.
Super Tekla started to be noticed in showbiz after his stint in Willie Revillame’s Wowowin as a co-host. But Tekla became more popular when GMA network paired him with Boobay to go up against Vice Ganda’s Gandang Gabi Vice.
The Boobay and Tekla Show was created to battle against Gandang Gabi Vice in the ratings game. During that time, it seemed GMA has found gold in the two as they gave Vice Ganda a worthy opponent. This may have caused GMA to gamble on Tekla with his launching film.
Meanwhile, in an ambush interview after the presscon of his movie Kiko en Lala, Tekla was asked if he feels pressured being compared to Vice Ganda and his success in movies.
“Dyos ko kung ikumpara man ako wala naman ako sa kalingkingan ni Vice. Kumbaga alam naman nating lahat yun Dyosko ang layo layo na nang narating ni meme,” Super Tekla answered.
“Kumbaga yung kaba hindi ko sya iniinda kasi alam ko ang kapasidad ko. Alam ko kung saan ako lulugar, at alam ko kung saan ako nararapat. Kumbaga wala akong ano, wala akong ano sa puso na na kakabahan ako bakit? Kung kay Vice man lang malayo. Vice is Vice, Tekla lang po ako,” he added.
Meanwhile, when asked about the comparisons being made between him and Vice, Tekla replied, “Kanya kanyang atake. Iba ang syle ng comedy nya, iba din ang style ng comedy ko.”
Super Tekla is currently promoting his launching film Kiko En Lala. The film will premiere on September 25 under GMA Pictures.
Joining Super Tekla in the cast are Kapuso actors Derrick Monasterio, Kim Domingo, Kiray Celis, Divine Tetay, Jo Berry, Vangie Labalan, and Ai-Ai Delas Alas in a very special role. The movie is under the direction of Adolfo Alix Jr.
